himself & senior disciple of the legendary tabla player, late Pt Shankar Ghosh. Sourish Chatterjee, a student of both Riteshji and Kuntalda, will accompany on harmonium.

MASTERS OF THE MUSICAL TRADITION, Pt. Ritesh-Rajnish Mishra Duet singing in the Indian Classical Music is considered a very intricate art, for it requires not only individual competence but, great amount of self control to improvise and harmonise at the same time. The Maestros Duo Pt. Ritesh Mishra and Pt. Rajnish Mishra have put in everything to achieve such excellence under the guidance of the Living Legends, the 'Sun and Moon' of the Banaras Gharana, Padma Bhusham Pt. Rajan Mishra (Father) and Pt. Sajan Mishra (Uncle). Enliving the sixth generation of the family of great musicians, the artist brothers are gifted with a very pleasing voice and sensibility for musical notes. Skilled with rich knowledge of Indian Ragas the duos have performed at most prestigious concerts all over the world such as, BBC Proms at Albert Hall, London, Lincoln Centre, NY, USA, closing ceremony of Commonwealth Games, 2002 in Manchester, UK. They have sung 3rd track 'Mahadeva' in the album called 'Rise', that has been nominated for the prestigious 'Grammy Awards'. 'Top Grade’ vocalists of All India Radio and Television, they have been awarded the 'YUVA Ratna Award' for the year 1999, 'Bhavishya Jyoti Award' for the year 2007, 'Sangeet Natak Academy Award' for the year 2008 and 'Sangeet Samriddhi Award'.

 

Kuntal Roy is one of the most sought after tabla players in the music world. He is a senior disciple of legendary tabla acharya, Pandit Shankar Ghosh. He also received training from Shri Narayan Chandra Haldhar and Shri Radha Raman Nath. Melody, clarity and precision are some of the characteristics of Kuntal’s playing. Kuntal has given many solo and accompaniment performances with vocal, dance and instrumental all across the globe. His performances have received high accolades including from none other than the musical legand, Pandit Ravi Shankar. He is the founder of Seattle Tabla School and has been teaching in Seattle as well as various students from India, Europe, Russia, Australia, Japan for more than two decades.

 

Sourish Chatterjee, a resident of Seattle, is currently studying vocal music under the guidance of Pt Ritesh Mishra. He has also been learning semi-classical vocal music under Shri Subhajit Bandyopadhyay and has received Senior National Scholarship from Ministry of Culture Govt. of India in 2008 in the field of Hindustani Semi-Classical music. Sourish is also a Tabla student of Shri Kuntal Roy for last few years.
